Studying Biology in Stage 6 will further develop students' biological understanding and skills that they developed in their junior years. Students will plan and conduct first hand practical investigations; process, analyse and present information to solve problems and demonstrate understanding.
The content that they will cover includes:
- Ecosystems – includes both living and non-living components
- Patterns in Nature – organisms consist of microscopic cells
- Life on Earth – life has evolved over millions of years
- Evolution of Australian Biota – organisms change in response to their environment
- Maintaining a Balance – there is a narrow range of conditions that life can survive within
- Blueprint of Life – characteristics of organisms is passed on in DNA
- The Search For Better Health – disease can impair the normal functioning of an organism
