Biology

Studying Biology in Stage 6 will further develop students' biological understanding and skills that they developed in their junior years. Students will plan and conduct first hand practical investigations; process, analyse and present information to solve problems and demonstrate understanding.

The content that they will cover includes:

  • Ecosystems – includes both living and non-living components
  • Patterns in Nature – organisms consist of microscopic cells
  • Life on Earth – life has evolved over millions of years
  • Evolution of Australian Biota – organisms change in response to their environment
  • Maintaining a Balance – there is a narrow range of conditions that life can survive within
  • Blueprint of Life – characteristics of organisms is passed on in DNA
  • The Search For Better Health – disease can impair the normal functioning of an organism
