Agriculture Technology (Stage 5)

Through the study of Agricultural Technology in Years 9 and 10 students develop knowledge, understanding and skills which enable them to contribute positively to their own lifestyle and to the social, economic and environmental future of Australia.

Agriculture at Blayney High School provides students with an opportunity to experience aspects of an agricultural lifestyle through direct contact with plants and animals and a variety of outside activities.

The study of Agricultural Technology develops knowledge and understanding about a range of agricultural practices. It develops the ability to respond to human needs and emerging opportunities. It develops knowledge, understanding and skills in the management of plant and animal enterprises, the technology associated with these enterprises and the marketing of products.

Agriculture Technology is arranged as 50% theory and 50% practical experiences. Students will learn about the interactions, management and sustainability within the context of both animal and plant production systems that are related to the local area.

Student will have the opportunity to learn to operate the school's tractor in a controlled and safe environment, under direct supervision of teaching staff.
