Textiles Technology
At Blayney High School, students commencing in NSW's Stage 5 Textiles Technology course, will engage in project-based learning to explore the properties, performance, and uses of textiles through design and production. They investigate fibres, yarns, fabrics, and colouration, considering historical, cultural, and contemporary perspectives on textiles. Key aspects include developing design ideas, selecting appropriate materials and techniques, using equipment, documenting project work, and critically evaluating outcomes. Students also examine the impact of technology on the industry, environmental considerations like fast fashion, and develop confidence in manipulating textile materials and equipment
