Referral Pathways
There are several ways a student can be referred to the school counsellor:
- Self-referral – Students can ask to see the counsellor themselves if they would like support with friendships, school stress, emotions, or any personal concerns. They can action this via the school’s self-referral QR code or reaching out in person to Meg. This encourages independence and helps students take ownership of their wellbeing.
- Learning and Support Team referral – Sometimes teachers notice a student may benefit from extra support. In these cases, teachers can make a recommendation to the school’s Learning and Support Team, who may then refer the student to see Meg. This ensures that classroom observations are followed up with the right kind of help.
- Parent request – Parents or carers can contact the school directly if they have concerns about their child’s wellbeing, learning, or behaviour. With parental input, Meg can arrange meetings, assessments, or support tailored to the student’s needs.
